NIDC announced today a revised lease agreement with Rabaul Metal Industries (RMI) to begin manufacturing roofing iron in Kavieng, a move that reinforces the Chan-Kolivos Government’s commitment to continue the late Governor Sir J’s roof over-head policy.

 

In a site visit today, NIDC Managing Director Christian Tarkap toured the new warehouse with RMI representative Sean Wong where he praised the collaboration, saying the partnership with RMI aligns with NIDC’s mission to support the New Ireland Provincial Government to deliver essential housing materials to communities,” Tarkap said.

 

In another strategic move, the NIDC Board has approved a plan to partner with RMI and Agmark Agro Ltd. to establish cocoa buying points in Kavieng and Namatanai. The initiative aims to improve access to markets for cocoa farmers and streamline the supply chain from farm to market and access to export channels.

 

Governor Hon. Byron Chan will officially launch the projects following the final inspections by relevant authorities. The launchings are expected to signal a new chapter in New Ireland’s development, enhancing quality lifestyle for our people with agricultural market access to drive economic growth in the province.
