The management of the New Ireland Development Corporation (NIDC) has concluded a week-long series of meetings in Port Moresby with investors, business partners, and key stakeholders to advance the economic and investment aspirations of the Government and people of New Ireland Province.
A key engagement was also held with National Housing Corporation Managing Director, Mr. Abel Tol, and senior officials of the Department of Lands and Physical Planning.
The meetings paved the way for NIDC to fix necessary paperwork to kick off several priority projects in Kavieng town.
The team was accompanied by NIDC Chairman, Mr. Benjamin Kimbe, who joined in anticipation of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Housing Corporation (NHC).
The MOU will pave the way for a partnership between NIDC, Malagan Lodge Ltd and NHC to invest in tourism and apartment development initiatives aimed at boosting the economy of New Ireland Province.
Other engagements included discussions with the Group Accountant of Mash Advisory Limited and Mr. John Wau of Wau Accountants Business Consultants to commence an internal audit of NIDC’s financial records for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025.
NIDC Managing Director, Mr. Christian Tarkap, said he was pleased with the outcomes of the trip.
“This is a bold step forward by the Board and Management of NIDC to promote equal investment opportunities, good governance, and accountability in how we deliver projects for our people,” Mr. Tarkap said.
